Before and After: Biggest Celebrity Glow-Ups
Think back to the 2010s. Some celebs exploded into superstardom, others quietly drifted away, and a few barely blinked. Scroll through side-by-side shots and you’ll see shifts in style, career focus and life choices that are sometimes downright shocking.
Kylie: Reality TV to Cosmetics Titan
Kylie moved from being a familiar reality face to the architect of a makeup empire. She turned social-media attention into a must-have cosmetics brand that reshaped how influencers sell products. Forbes even called her one of the youngest billionaires, which rewrote expectations for online fame. The change reads as equal parts celebrity and serious entrepreneur.
Rihanna: Chart-Topping Star to Business Boss
Rihanna kept releasing hits while quietly building a business footprint with Fenty Beauty and fashion ties. Those moves shifted how stars monetize style and made her a major player in retail. She also dipped into acting and became a parent, blending creative work with commerce. The images show someone who evolved from pop icon to industry powerhouse without losing her edge.
Taylor Swift: Country Kid to Global Pop Giant
Taylor started in country and gradually transformed into one of pop’s biggest forces. She kept reinventing herself, from massive stadium tours to a concert film that shattered box office records. Her re-recording project put older albums back in the conversation while she kept selling out arenas. The result is a reinvention that doubled as a cultural moment.
Justin Bieber: Teen Idol to Family-Focused Artist
Justin grew out of the swoosh haircut and into a very different life. He released new music, opened up in a docuseries, and was frank about a neurological condition that caused facial paralysis and paused touring. Marriage and parenthood reshaped his public image, turning him from perpetual teen star into someone juggling recovery, family and a creative comeback. The change is as personal as it is professional.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga, unlike some other celebrities, is timeless. While some of the production on her early songs has managed to become a bit dated (hey, give her a break, it's been 12 years!), her general artistic ethos has withstood the ages. Even though it was in 2010, the meat dress she wore to the MTV Music Video Awards feels just as shocking now as it did then. Her unique conception of art and theatrics has allowed her to stay in the limelight for more than a decade!
Taylor Swift
It's not a very controversial statement to say that Taylor Swift has changed a lot over the past decade. She initially started out as a low-key country singer before transitioning into and experimenting with different types of pop sounds. Today, she's definitely more of a pop singer than a country crooner, but she hasn't forgotten her roots. Her newest record, Lover, features the Dixie Chicks, as well as a few songs that riff on country melodies. Obviously, she's changed a lot, but the core of T-Swift is still there.
Miley Cyrus
Ah, Miley. Did anyone have more of a tumultuous time in the 2010s? We don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, but she's definitely experimented with a ton of different styles, both in her fashion and her music. In 2010, she was just beginning to transition from Hannah Montana into just being Miley. Since then, we've seen her try multiple images, including that of 2013's Bangerz. She's collaborated with plenty of artists along the way, too, ranging from Mike Will Made It, to the Flaming Lips.
Justin Bieber
Back in 2010, Justin Bieber was busy preparing for the release of his first album, My World 2.0. In it was the world-changing Baby, a song that would go on to more or less define a generation. The Biebz had more than his fair share of hate to deal with across the rest of the decade, and has changed his look a lot. While we're happy with who he is now, we'll never forget the seminal swoosh haircut from earlier in the decade.
Khloe Kardashian
We can always count on the Kardashians to constantly be changing their looks. Hey, that's why we have to keep up with them so readily, right? Anyway, we can see that Khloe has changed a good bit since 2010. First off, her hair is totally different, and it definitely looks awesome! There's also a whole bunch of changes in her personal life that you can't see: a divorce with husband Lamar Odom in 2016, a new daughter, and her own reality show.
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande is one of the biggest pop stars in the world right now. Between recent hits like "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored" and "thank u, next" (which was the ultimate Tinder anthem, by the way), Ariana has been in nearly constant rotation on pop radio. Her music has become so big that we sometimes forget that, back in 2010, she was just getting her career started on the Disney Channel. Her role as Cat Valentine on Victorious led to where she is today, which is pretty crazy.
Cole Sprouse
Anyone who was young in the 2000s remembers Cole Sprouse from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, a hit show that began in 2005. By 2011, Cole had distanced himself from Disney, hoping to use his childhood fame to jumpstart a career in other places. Like many of today's stars, it worked well! By 2017, he was acting in Netflix's Riverdale, a show based on Archie Comics. It's been a pretty big success, and was recently renewed for a fifth season. His look has changed a lot, though; check that hair!
Camila Cabello
Camila is another star that started at a completely different place than where she is today. At the start of the decade, she was just a young girl with dreams of being a star. By 2012, her appearance on The X Factor earned her a spot in Fifth Harmony, a group that she would perform in for years. After scoring a few hits with Fifth Harmony, Cabello went solo, dropping massive songs like "Senorita" and "Havana." Her career has skyrocketed in the past ten years, but her look hasn't changed too much!
Billie Eilish
One name that anyone interested in pop culture of today can't escape is Billie Eilish. The young singer was only eight in 2010 (yeah, she's only 18 now!), so her glow-up is gonna be pretty noticeable. She has been singing since she was young, but didn't really see success until 2015, when her song "Ocean Eyes" blew up on Soundcloud. Of course, we all know what happened after that. Hit single after hit single! Oh, and lots of memorable outfits. She definitely didn't have swag like that in 2010!
Rihanna
Rihanna has been a main-stay in the music industry since before 2010, so her story begins even further back than that. Still, her career has seen growth in a lot of different areas in the past decade. We've seen her acting chops, as well as her shrewd business decisions with Fenty Beauty, as well as the various fashion collaborations that she has been involved in. Despite all the hard work, we can see from this pic that it looks like she hasn't aged a day! It must be that Fenty beauty kit.
Hilary Duff
We won't blame you too hard if you haven't been keeping close tabs on Hilary Duff as of late. Lots of us will remember her as the lovable Lizzie McGuire in the early 2000s, but she largely kept to herself after the show ended in 2004. She experienced a comeback in 2015 with a role in TV Land's Younger, and has since signed on to be a part of a reboot of Lizzie McGuire on Disney+. As of now, the reboot is on hiatus, so we aren't sure where exactly her career is going.
Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd is an actor most well-known for an almost creepy ability to not show any signs of aging. Like, what's up with this guy?! Maybe he's discovered the fountain of youth, or is a master alchemist. Or, maybe a laundry list of well-received Hollywood roles has kept his stress low. We've seen Mr. Rudd as Ant-Man in a few of his own movies, as well as roles in Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: Civil War. We think the checks from those movies would keep our wrinkles down, too.
Selena Gomez
Yet another star that proves that Disney Channel is the place to start a musical career, Selena Gomez has had a pretty intense last decade. In 2010, we really only knew her for her role on Wizards of Waverly Place, but she's definitely proven herself as an excellent solo singer since then. We also got to gossip about her relationship with J. Bieber, which was pretty fun at the time. She just released her newest album, Rare, this year, showing that she's ready to return to the musical spotlight.
Emma Watson
Having an absolutely massive and beloved role is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, people love you. On the other hand, they're never going to be able to think of you as anyone else! Emma Watson, though, has done a good job of showing that she has more to offer than just being Hermione Granger. She's received a ton of acclaim for a variety of different roles, including in Little Women. Still, we can't help but see a little bit of "levio-SAH" when we see her picture.
Kendall Jenner
Much like her sister Kylie, Kendall Jenner is someone who has emerged from the shadow of her mega-famous sisters. She was only 14 in 2010, so we would expect her before and after pics to be pretty different. Now, we see a poised and successful model, one who was rated by Forbes as the highest paid in the industry in 2018 (not one of the highest, but THE highest!). She definitely has a completely different look and legacy compared to Kylie, but the two are still tight to this day.
Jaden and Willow Smith
This is a two-for-one deal, mainly because the two siblings are often seen photographed together (which, by the way, is sweet). We still recognize their names today, but we knew them for totally different reasons 10 years ago. Willow drew both fans and haters for "Whip My Hair" (which, by the way, is an amazing guilty pleasure song), and Jaden was the Karate Kid. Now, they've both found success in music, with Jaden slowly growing into bonafide stardom. The best thing about these pics, though? Little Jaden was so cute!
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is definitely still highly relevant today, but her music was absolutely everywhere in 2010. "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold" were huge hits, and her place in pop culture was definitely solidified. While the ebb and flow of fame has been pretty kind to Perry, she hasn't had that chart-shattering song in a while now. We know you've got it in you, Katy! In terms of this side-by-side photo, we can see that she's been aging gracefully, and still loves messing with different and fun hairstyles.
Bella Hadid
Disclaimer: it's not fair to us normal people to look at side-by-side photos of world-renowned models from age 13 to now. Like, obviously their glow-up is gonna be insane. In 2010, Bella Hadid was just a normal 13 year old girl (albeit also the daughter of a real-estate mogul and a model). By 2014, Bella Hadid signed with IMG Models, and her modeling career has skyrocketed since. Now, she's one of the biggest names in the industry, and has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world.
Beyonce
No matter what year it is, you know that Beyonce is going to be doing amazing things and looking absolutely (Sasha) fierce. In fact, Queen Bey was doing both back in 2010, the year she dropped songs like "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Which, by the way, are still populating playlists to this day. In 2020, she's obviously as beautiful as ever, and now the mother of three children with Jay-Z. But, still, we need to ask: when's the next album?
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't age, ever. We've all seen the pictures of him as a young man, and we can all attest that he's just as handsome as ever. His story has mainly been that of an actor performing exceedingly well at a variety of different roles, and that hasn't really changed much since 2010. Back then, we saw him in films like Shutter Island and Inception. Since then, there's been Wolf of Wall Street, The Revenant, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Oh, and like a million others.
Margot Robbie
While now we all immediately feel our crushes get a little stronger when we hear her name, most of us had no clue who Margot Robbie was back in 2010. That's because she didn't really burst into stardom until 2011, with the ABC show Pan Am. Since then, we've seen her alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in both Wolf of Wall Street and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, among other blockbusters. Needless to say, Robbie's talent and beauty are more than enough to guarantee her a spot in Tinsel Town's elite for a while.
Jennifer Aniston
We hate to say it, but it's hard for us to think that Jennifer Aniston isn't actually Rachel. Her role in Friends is the type of career-defining gig that doesn't come along too often. Still, we'd be hard-pressed to call her acting resume lopsided. Office Space, Cake, Horrible Bosses, Bruce Almighty - the list goes on. We've followed her across her relationship with Brad Pitt, multiple different acting roles, business ventures, and more. Still, all we're left to say is that, like many other actors on this list, she obviously doesn't age.
Meghan Markle
Man, and we thought that Kylie changed a lot. In the last decade, Meghan Markle has grown from an actress on Suits to, very literally, being royalty. She married Prince Harry in 2018, a move that marked her as the Duchess of Sussex. How's that for a glow-up? Although she is certainly no longer an actress, we'll still remember her showbiz career fondly. Fans can't be too disappointed though, because her new life is arguably more entertaining than ever. Check the tabloids next time you're in the grocery store!
Jennifer Lawrence
Although these pictures definitely show off the fact that Jennifer Lawrence has grown up a lot over the past decade, one thing has remained the same: her talent. In 2010, she had already garnered a nomination for Best Actress for her work in the gripping Winter's Bone. Since then, she's shown the ability to act in a variety of roles and genres. We all probably recognize J-Law as being Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, a film series that unfolded from 2012 to 2015.
Jennifer Lopez
With a plethora of hit songs, critically-acclaimed albums and well-received acting roles, Jennifer Lopez definitely isn't stressing. Jenny from the Block is now married to Alex Rodriguez and is living in a stunning home, and recently got a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Hustlers. Which, by the way, she was also a producer of. J Lo is one of those wonder women of the entertainment industry that can do pretty much everything. These side-by-side photos really show off her timeless beauty, too.
Kim Kardashian
Is there any celebrity that is quite as-- well, a celebrity as Kim Kardashian? She pretty much defines the modern idea of celebrity, and we've gotta say, we'll never stop being entertained by it. Back in 2010, she was already a mega-star, and things have just gotten bigger for Kim since then: a marriage with Kanye West, meetings with the president, Instagram and Twitter posts that destroy the internet. Things have changed a lot for her in the past decade. Really, we're not sure what we would do without Kim.
Justin Bieber, Life After the Swoon
Justin Bieber did not just grow out of that swoosh haircut, he built a whole new chapter. He released more music, put a multi-part docuseries out for fans, and publicly shared struggles with his health along the way. He also settled into married life and expanded his family, which reshaped his public image from teen idol to grown-up performer. The shift is as visible as any glow-up photo, only this one includes new roles off-stage.
Rihanna, From Hits To A Business Empire
Rihanna kept making headlines, but not only for music. She expanded into beauty and fashion in a major way, turning product lines into a powerful business arm that changed how many celebrities play the market. She also became a parent and kept showing up in high-profile moments that mixed music, fashion and commerce. The picture here is of someone who moved from pop star to entrepreneurial mogul without losing the style.
Selena Gomez Goes Beyond Disney
Selena Gomez took the momentum from her early TV days and pushed into new lanes. She launched a beauty line focused on inclusivity and mental health, and she found success on-screen as both star and executive producer of a hit series. Alongside that, she has been open about her mental and physical health, which has made her comeback feel more personal and grounded. The result is a career that now blends art, business and advocacy.
Billie Eilish, Awards and a Style Shift
Billie Eilish went from viral kid to critical darling in record time. She swept major awards, contributed songs to blockbuster films, and gradually evolved her public style from oversized streetwear to more varied, sometimes glamorous looks. That artistic growth shows up both in her music and in how she presents herself on red carpets and stages. Those before-and-after shots read like a short biography in two frames.
Where The Decade Took Them
A lot of these glow-ups are about more than hair and clothes. Many of the stars on this list parlayed fame into businesses, film and TV roles, advocacy, and family life. That makes their 'after' pictures not just about looks, but about new priorities and new public roles. So those side-by-sides say more than style changes, they show the kinds of careers people build once the viral moment fades.
Taylor Swift's Next-Level Era
Taylor's shift from country to global pop reached new peaks, with a tour and concert film that smashed box office records and streamed numbers. Her re-recording project has kept older albums in the conversation while she keeps filling stadiums and movie theaters. The picture now is of an artist who turned a career reinvention into one of the biggest cultural moments in music.
Justin Bieber, Health and Family First
Justin's story since his teen-idol days has included public struggles with a neurological condition that caused facial paralysis and forced him to pause touring. He has been open about the rough patch and about rebuilding life and music around new priorities, including becoming a parent. The change reads as a shift from perpetual teen star to someone balancing recovery, family and a creative comeback.
Kim Kardashian's Business and Legal Push
Kim has turned reality fame into a multibillion-dollar business footprint with shapewear and beauty moves that reshaped celebrity commerce. At the same time she quietly moved into legal studies and criminal justice advocacy, applying her platform to causes beyond fashion. The result is a very different public persona than a decade ago, one that mixes commerce, law and activism.
Rihanna, From Hits To An Empire
Rihanna kept making hits while building a beauty and fashion business that changed how stars monetize style. She's balanced that commercial success with high-profile creative work and a new role as a parent, showing the mix of art and industry that defines her image now. Those before-and-after photos capture someone who evolved from pop star to a serious entrepreneur without losing her edge.
Miley Cyrus Keeps Reinventing Herself
Miley went from Disney transition to provocative pop star and then to a more mature, critically embraced performer. Her recent music has produced massive streaming success and major award recognition, cementing the comeback as more than nostalgia. Those side-by-side snaps show an artist who refuses to stay in one lane and keeps surprising listeners and critics alike.
Meghan's Coast-to-Coast Reset
Meghan went from Suits actress to Duchess after marrying Prince Harry in 2018, and that was only step one. They later stepped back from royal duties, moved to California and started a family, which has reshaped how she shows up in public. Fashion editors still watch her, but now parenting and privacy steer a lot of her choices. The glow-up here reads less like a makeover and more like a full career pivot.
From Royalty To Production Rooms
Meghan and Harry have taken their next steps into media, signing deals to develop film and TV projects. That move flips the script from being subjects of headlines to shaping stories themselves. Picture a public figure trading official events for writers rooms and production meetings. It is another clear example of celebrities using fame to build new careers behind the scenes.
Miley's Reinvention, Round Two
Miley started shedding her Disney past years ago, and the pivot that began around 2013 only kept accelerating. She moved through provocative pop eras into a more mature, rock-inflected sound and a simpler public style. That artistic restlessness has become part of her appeal, not a detour. Recent reports about her personal life suggest she is entering another quieter, more grounded chapter.
Personal Life Meets Public Narrative
For both Meghan and Miley, private milestones have moved into the public storybook. Reported engagement news for Miley and Meghan's shift to parenting show how life events now shape headlines as much as album drops or red carpets. Fans read these moments as part of a larger transformation, not just another tabloid pulse. That makes their after pictures about new priorities, not just new haircuts.
What We Can Learn From This
Look at these before-and-afters and you see more than a haircut change. You see strategy: building brands, picking roles, choosing family, speaking out. Names like Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift show that fame can be steered into something longer lasting. Those side-by-sides are shorthand for career moves, not just style decisions.
Business Beats the Blonde Moment
A lot of these glow-ups landed in boardrooms, not just on red carpets. Celebrities moved into beauty, fashion and shapewear, turning attention into actual companies. That shift changes how we judge a glow-up, because success is now profit and product as much as a look. The result feels smarter and more durable than a trendy makeover.
Music Careers: Reinvention Pays
For musicians the biggest changes were creative, not cosmetic. Some leaned harder into songwriting and changed genres, others revisited earlier work and reclaimed it. That kind of reinvention keeps careers active and conversations going. In pop especially, evolving taste can feel like the main currency.
Long Story Short
These side-by-sides are shorthand for bigger moves, not just better hair. Look at Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift and you see strategy: new businesses, new sounds and new public priorities. For others, like Meghan or Miley, the glow-up reads more like a career pivot or a choice to protect family life. Basically, the decade turned makeovers into long-term plans.
When Glam Turns Into Business
A glow-up now often lands in a boardroom, not just on a runway. Names from this piece moved attention into companies and product lines, redefining what success looks like. That shift makes a before-and-after photo less about fashion and more about lasting value. It also makes celebrity careers feel like small-business case studies with better lighting.
Health, Family, New Priorities
Personal life started steering headlines as much as hits or red carpets. Health journeys and parenthood show up in these after photos as clearly as new designer choices. For some stars the change meant stepping back, for others it meant reworking how they work. Either way, balance often replaced constant exposure as the main goal.
Reinvention On Stage and Screen
Many of the biggest glow-ups were creative, not cosmetic. Artists shifted genres, re-recorded old albums and picked roles that let them grow, which kept conversations going long after the viral moment. Actors moved into producing and musicians took control of their catalogs. Those moves turned short-term fame into ongoing creative agency.
Where We Go From Here
Expect more glow-ups that are quiet and strategic, not just flashy makeovers. Future transformations will likely mix creativity, business sense and a clearer idea of personal boundaries. Watching fame shift into ownership and advocacy is the new entertainment beat. The before-and-afters will keep telling that bigger story.
